How to Deal With Frosty Windows

Although the snow is a beautiful thing to behold, unfortunately, all of that cold can eventually work its way into your home. If you have ever woken up on a cold day to find a layer of ice on the insides of your windows, then you know what we are talking about. This often happens when condensation builds up and lands on your windows, which is then frozen upon contact with your cold windows. Luckily, our window cleaning experts have come up with this list of tips to help you deal with your frosty windows:

  • Invest in a dehumidifier- Humidity is the enemy when you want to get rid of the ice on your windows, and one of the best ways to get rid of the moisture is with a dehumidifier. Because many modern homes are very well insulated, simple acts like cooking pasta or making tea can cause excess humidity in your home.
  • Keep the heat up- When you keep your home warm enough, the frost will be less likely to form on your windows. Are you concerned about your heating bill? Rather than turning up the heat for your entire home, try putting a space heater in the rooms that are prone to freezing windows.
  • Always use your exhaust fans- Bathrooms and kitchens are generally some of the worst places in your home from frosty windows, because of excess condensation from cooking and showering. A good way to counteract this is by using the exhaust fans in those rooms, or even slightly cracking the window while you are showering or cooking.
